370 inmates have become self-reliant in Barisal Central Jail by acquiring skills in sewing, weaving and embroidery, electrical and wood work. Besides, the sentence is waived according to the prison rules. To encourage these people, Deputy Commissioner Jasim Uddin Haider held a meeting inside the jail and distributed sewing machines and clothes on Wednesday morning. The program was organized under the initiative of Criminal Corrections and Rehabilitation Society Barisal of the Department of Social Services. Shahidul Islam, Divisional Director of Social Services Department, Additional District Magistrate Shah Md. Rafiqul Islam, Senior Jail Superintendent of Barisal Central Jail Ratna Roy and District Shah Alam, Deputy Director of District Social Services Office Al Mamun Talukdar and Probation Officer Sajjad Parvez, Riaz ul Kabir Rezin etc. Bhandaria resident Milan Talukdar, in charge of the weaving house, who was sentenced to life in the murder case, said that he was supporting himself with the money earned by weaving. So no need to take money from family members. Jahanara Begum, who was sentenced to life in the case of murder of her husband, said that now she is benefiting financially in addition to the remission of her sentence by working. In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said to the convicts and inmates present, that after the release, one should refrain from committing crimes by using his conscience without falling into any temptation. The 70 released prisoners of the past have been made self-reliant with vans and sewing machines. You will also be supported to live with your head high in the society.
