National Social Service Day 2022 is going to be celebrated on Sunday with the conviction of delivering government services to marginalized people to build a society free from hunger and poverty. The day will be observed nationwide through various programs under the initiative of the Ministry of Social Welfare. This year the theme of the day is 'Mujib year's success, you will get all allowances at home'. The day comes with the message of the facilities provided by the government to provide a better life for the backward sections of the society. The President gave a message on the occasion of the day. President Abdul Hamid said in his speech that the benefit of social security program is reaching people's doorsteps through financial services through GTP system for the welfare of information technology. The President also said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a visionary leader. Under his leadership, independent Bangladesh emerged in 1971 and the country's reconstruction began. He has undertaken various welfare programs for the distressed and helpless people of the war-torn country.
In her speech, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the current Awami League government has been implementing comprehensive programs for the welfare and development of the country's disadvantaged people, including poor, helpless children, disabled, teenagers, abused husbands, women and the elderly, for 13 years. In the current fiscal year, 57.1 lakh people are getting old age allowance, allocation is 3 thousand 444.54 crore taka. 24.75 lakh people are getting widow and husband Nigrahita allowance, the budget is 1 thousand 495.40 crore taka. 20.08 lakh people are receiving disability allowance, the budget is 1 thousand 820 crores. Besides, stipend is being provided to 1 lakh disabled students in the financial year 2021-22.
